Purpose: This study aimed to explore factors affecting dating sexual violence experience, focusing on the female nursing students' general characteristics, gender sensitivity, and sexual assertiveness.
Methods: As a descriptive correlational study design, data were collected by self-reported questionnaires from 138 female nursing students. The data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA with Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 27.0.
Results: Female nursing students who reported dating sexual violence experience showed higher gender sensitivity and lower sexual assertiveness. Significant factors affecting dating violence experience were gender sensitivity (¥â=0.24, p=.020), sexual assertiveness (¥â=-0.33, p=.002), and the number (¥â=-0.23, p=.011) and duration (¥â=-0.22, p=.011) of the dating relationship. These variables explained 15% of the variance in the model for the dating sexual violence experience.
Conclusion: This study indicated that gender sensitivity and sexual assertiveness were related to the dating sexual violence experience. These results suggest the need for education against dating sexual violence victims' experiences for nursing college students, considering gender sensitivity and sexual assertiveness.
